Top 5 Skin Concerns

#1: Dull Skin – After being exposed to the sun and harsh outdoor elements, dead skin cells may have accumulated on the surface of your skin. A simple procedure or the right skincare products may be just what you need.

#2: Dry Skin – Mature, aging skin is prone to being dry and dehydrated. During the cold winter or in the hot sun on vacation your complexion may be thirsty. Medical Grade Skincare products are formulated to deliver noticeable and long lasting results.

#3: Lines & Wrinkles  – Ultra Violet rays all year long cause and worsen the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Start early to prevent fine lines and wrinkles and erase and smooth current lines.

#4: Dark Spots – Sun and heat exposure triggers skin discoloration like freckles, dark spots and uneven skin tone. Fall and winter is the best time to treat hyperpigmentation.

#5: Redness & Acne – Weather changes and going from extreme cold into a warm house can initiate breakouts and rosacea. A combination of good skincare products along with IPL Rosacea treatment can help keep rosacea at bay.

Am I having a reaction?

Am I having a reaction?

Are you having a reaction to your skincare?

Chances are that you’ve had a reaction to a skin-care product or cosmetic somewhere on your face or body but how do you know if you are having an allergic reaction or just an irritation?

The first step is to identify which product caused the problem and discontinue its use.

Here are some helpful points to help determine what kind of reaction you are having.

Irritation

  • Upon removal of product, the itching or burning sensation stops.
  • Irritation reaction may or may not repeat itself when product is applied to the skin again, depending if skin is in a sensitive state.
  • This is a “temporary reaction”, not an allergy.
  • The key here is patience. Experiment with the item or items you suspect. The reaction could have happened during a time while your immune system was low or your skin was compromised (possibly from a sunburn, windburn, a medication you were taking at that time, etc.)  Try the product again after a while then see how your skin responds. You may just need to avoid this product or suspected ingredient(s).

Allergic Reaction

  • Repeats every time product is applied.
  • Upon removal of product burning or itching does not stop.
  • Blisters, welting and/or peeling may occur later.
  • Immune system has determined that the product is life-threatening and prepares anti-bodies.
  • Stop using that product immediately and avoid suspected ingredient(s).

If matters aren’t improving after four to six weeks, you should seek out a dermatologist for an evaluation.Once you figure out your trigger ingredient is you’ll become a master at reading cosmetic ingredient labels so you can protect yourself.

If you have questions about what skincare products to use on your skin, stop in for a complimentary skincare evaluation. We carry medical grade products that deliver great results!

Do I have to to wear sunscreen in the fall and winter?

Do I have to to wear sunscreen in the fall and winter?

Sunscreen is often forgotten about once the weather becomes cooler and the days become shorter. Regardless of cooler weather, the sun can still harm your skin.

Many people wonder,  “Do I really need to wear sunscreen in the fall and winter?”

Yes, the skin doesn’t care if it’s summer, fall, winter or spring. Sun damage to the skin is cumulative. Damage starts with the amount of sun exposure you have from the day you are born until the day you die, and keeps adding up. The more exposure you get the weaker your cells become and eventually could form a cancer. There’s still enough sun in the fall and winter to cause damage. Especially for people who enjoy our Minnesota winters and outdoor sports in the snow. The risk in the winter becomes even greater because of the reflection from the sun’s rays off the snow back to the skin. So whether you are catching rays from walking to the car, laying on the beach, taking a stroll on a cloudy day, gazing out the window on a bright winter day, cover up with SPF.

Using sunscreen should become a part of everyone’s daily skin-care routine. Look for a multifunctional SPF like Intellishade by Revision Skincare. Intellishade SPF 45 keeps your skin healthy with added anti-oxidants and your routine simple.

Ask us for a sample of Intellishade and try it first. It is a staff favorite!  More information about Intellishade can be found here.

Should I be using an anti-oxidant on my skin?

Should I be using an anti-oxidant on my skin?

Anti-Oxidant Serums, are they the Anti-Aging key to Youthful Skin?

Many people don’t realize the importance of using an antioxidant daily in their skincare regimen.

Antioxidants provide you with added protection from the sun, more specifically from free radicals caused by the environment, pollution, UV damage, smoking, etc. which causes the breakdown of free radicals in your skin. This can be damaging, but with the protection of a daily sunscreen and antioxidants you can fight back and reverse time’s effect on your face.

We recommend an anti-oxidant rich product link Vitamin C 30% Lotion by Revision Skincare! This powerful lotion contains one of the strongest concentrations of vitamin C available and also includes additional anti-oxidants such as vitamin E and Coenzyme Q10. With penetration deep into the dermis layer it allows for greater protection and better results. Over time Vitamin C 30% can improve skin tone, appearance, fine lines and wrinkles while lightening and brightening along the way.

This product is perfect to start using now when summer sun damage is showing its face. Stop by our office to pick up your Vitamin C 30% today!

Fall Innovative Skincare for a Fresh Face

Fall Innovative Skincare for a Fresh Face

As fall arrives, you may dreading seeing the damage your skin incurred from the summer sun.

Instead, embrace the fall season as a time to start an anti-aging regimen with the latest innovations in skincare ingredients.

Many or most of us took part in outdoor summer activities like spending time at the pool or beach, enjoying nature and physical activity soaking in the vitamin D. In doing so, some unintended damage was probably done to your skin – even if you were careful and covered up with SPF and a hat.

Being exposed to environmental factors such as chlorine, insect spray, air-conditioning and outdoor elements (humidity, heat, UV rays, etc.) can wreak havoc on your skin. By the end of summer, you may notice your skin not only looks dry and dull, but signs of aging, including lines, wrinkles and dark spots, appear more noticeable.

Now is the ideal time to start repairing this damage and restore the health and appearance of your complexion.

Travel-Size Skincare for Beautiful Skin

Travel-Size Skincare for Beautiful Skin

I recently went on a trip to San Francisco and brought a few of my favorite travel skincare products from iS Clinical and Revision Skincare.

It was an action packed weekend filled with sightseeing, mountain biking, sunbathing on the Pacific Coast beaches and sailing.

My basic on-the-go skincare regime was Revision’s Brightening Facial WashiS Clinical Pro-Heal Serumand Revision’s Intellishade SPF45.

Revision Brightening wash washed away any travel sludge I had left on my face, creating a clean & fresh canvas. The Pro-Heal Serum helps to calm any redness in my skin, protects from further sun damage and adds a healthy glow. To finish off, I put on the Intellishade tinted moisturizer and Sunscreen that contains powerful peptides to perk up my complexion.

These three simple steps with powerful products was all I needed for quick, beautiful skin.

Sample sized skincare products are available. If you are interested in trying something new, give us a call and let us know!
