Description
Dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA) is a hormone that’s synthesized in the adrenal glands. The body then uses it to produce estrogens and androgens, which are sex hormones. DHEA levels in the body typically peak around age 24 and steadily drop with age, down as low as about 10% of young adult levels by age 85. Some individuals choose to supplement with DHEA in hopes of supporting healthy hormone levels, energy metabolism, bone and muscle strength, immune function, lean body mass levels and more.
