Q)  I have a history of blood clots and take Coumadin.  I was told by my GYN that I CANNOT take Progesterone because it can increase risk of blood clots.  Is this true?  I had a hysterectomy at age 33 and my body is in desperate need of Progesterone.

A)  This is NOT true of Bio-Identical Progesterone.  Natural progesterone is safe.  There is no evidence that natural progesterone increases clotting, in fact, the opposite is true.  Natural progesterone is a vasodilator that helps reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease. Synthetic progesterone (medroxyprogesterone acetate) is present in many birth control pills and increases the risk of blood clots.   Unfortunately, the use of synthetic progesterones is widespread.

Don’t be discouraged, there is hope you may feel better on natural progesterone, given in a natural way.
