Q) Why can’t I get my bio-identical hormones at my regular pharmacy?

A)  Bio-identical hormones, such as estrogen and progesterone are chemically identical to what is made by human ovary, whereas drug company manufactured hormones are chemically different and have been associated with multiple complications such as heart attack, stroke, blood clots, breast cancer, etc. Bio-identical hormones are obtained by a compounding pharmacist who can create creams, pills or sublingual preparations according to the prescribing physician’s orders. Most regular pharmacies do not do compounding, although so are beginning to do it.  ~Sarah Sankey, RN
